For those who do not read German, here you can find a translation made for me of the recent ruling in the matter of Walter Homolka vs. Axel Springer regarding Alan Posener’s first article in Die Welt about the whole scandal (from May 2022).
Rabbi Walter Rothschild wrote to some of us in an email with an apt summary of these three recent official decisions:
“What they demonstrate is how Walter Homolka and Hartmut Bomhoff have attempted to intimidate journalists and publishers and others, and how the Court and the Press Commission have very carefully sliced the different accusations and defences apart, assessing some as valid, some as invalid, some as simply ‘not proven’ but not necessarily wrong. I particularly like one line which states ‘Obviously the lawyer had been incorrectly informed since what he wrote (in defence of Homolka) was factually wrong.” This is such a nice, polite and positive way of avoiding a term such as ”He lied to the court.'”
